Message From the President
It takes a Community
President Jason Schneider
Hello everyone and welcome to the 147th Annual Palmerston Agricultural Societys fair . Our theme this year is “Barn Doors and Farm Chores”. The fair will be hosting all the favorite events that everyone has enjoyed over the years as well as new events that are sure to be crowd pleasers. Come be apart of the fair by entering exhibits in all the categories from photography to sewing, baking or vegetables and field crops. Showcase your talents for everyone to see. If that isn’t your thing then see what your friends and neighbours have entered. The fair is very family and community oriented and there is something for everyone to enjoy.
We start the fair off Wednesday August 19th with the fair ambassador competition come cheer on the contestants that are competing for Jr or Sr ambassador or you can be a contestant yourself. Its a great way to meet new friends and learn more about the ag society and get a chance to learn speaking skills and just have a lot of fun.
Thursday evening brings your exhibits to the fair and Friday is the parade. Business, clubs, organizations and just anyone that wants to put a float in the parade is more then welcome and let’s see all the kids on bikes. Everyone is welcome to come to the fair grounds after to see all the exhibits and of course the very popular Taste of Minto where you can enjoy samples of all sorts of delicious foods from the community.
Saturday is a fun filled day for all with activities for the kids like a bike rodeo, bouncy castles, peddle tractor pulls, face painting. Tie dye shirts and a hockey shooting gallery. Cornhole tournament with divisions for adults and kids this year. As well as the very popular corn eating competition and mullet competition followed by a live band into the night.
I’m very proud to be part of the Palmerston Ag Society for the last 30 years and what it has accomplished. We host many great events in the Spring including Men’s nights the farmers pre seeding Steak BBQ and the Ladies night and late July we also host the tractor pull which are very well attended and have raised so much money that we are able to donate back to the community. For example, we donated $50000.00 to the MRI campaign as well as donations to the fire department and the local food banks and lots of other causes.
The fair wouldn’t be the same without all the hard work from all the executives and directors and volunteers that donate their time and efforts into making Palmerston ag society such a success year after year.
I am excited to the President for the next 2 years and hope to bring the effort and enthusiasm to the fair the previous presidents have. Looking forward to seeing everyone out at this year’s fair.
