Agri-Awareness Day

Education is important to the Palmerston Agricultural Society

Agri Awareness Day

AGRI-AWARENESS DAY gives students an opportunity to get out of the traditional classroom and step into an interactive display and learn about agriculture hands-on. They can take their new knowledge back to the classroom for further discussion.

This past year, grade six students from Listowel, Palmerston and Wallace Public Schools attended an action packed day of agriculture awareness.

Again this past year, the dairy, pork, sheep and alpaca commodity groups were present. Booths for wool spinning, farm safety, Maitland Valley Conservation Authority and Listowel Veterinary Clinic rounded out the information provided for the students that day. A continued highlight was the annual Agri-Olympics. As usual competition was fierce with Wallace Public School once again taking home the trophy.

The committee will be inviting the local schools to attend Agri-Awareness day. We also extend an invitation to any other students who might be interested in taking part on this day. Please contact a member of the committee to participate.
